Bridget A. Brink: Government of Moldova managed to achieve improvement within the banking sector
Filip's Government has manged implemented over the years important reforms and overcame many challenges. Was the statement made by Deputy Assistant Secretary in the State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Bridget A. Brink, within an interview offered for News Maker portal.
The U.S. official complimented the Government for its achievement in reform implementation, speaking of the improvements registered in the banking sector.
”In a short period, the Government implemented a range of reforms. This lead to the signing of a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which approved a new package of 178 million dollars. And, as far as I know, the government continues the banking sector reform, which leaves the IMF program in force", said the American diplomat.
The U.S. official has encouraged Moldova to continue implementing reforms in the justice and banking systems and to increase efforts in fighting against corruption and human trafficking. Topics which have already been discussed with authorities from Moldova.
Within the interview, Bridget A. Brink also spoke of recent developments in relations between Chisinau and Tiraspol, assuring that United States will continue supporting Republic of Moldova in its European track.
”There are also good news from Transnistria. It seems to me that good progress has been achieved there. The results in countering trafficking in human beings are also not bad. However, there is still much work to do. We will do everything we can to support Moldova in getting closer to Europe. This requires permanent efforts, insistence and contribution, also from the citizens of Moldova", mentioned Bridget Brink.
"If the purpose of the authorities is to promote reforms that will help transform Moldova into a stable, safe, prosperous country and potentially solve the Transnistrian problem, than this is what the US actively supports" Bridget Brink added.
