Parliament to increase allocation for social allowances
Parliament today approved to increase state social allowances for certain categories of citizens. The increase of payments was supported by 82 deputies from those present at the meeting.
According to the new provisions, the size of the state social allowance for children with disabilities in childhood and for children with disabilities up to 18 years old is increased by 20%.
The increase will be established and recalculated from January 1, 2018. This will benefit about 12,100 disabled children and 27,300 people with childhood disabilities.
It will also increase by 10% the state social allowance for people with disabilities and for children in the case of the loss of the caretaker.
It will also increase the social allowance for elderly people by 5% and the allowance for care, attendance and supervision.
All these increases will be established and applied from 1 April 2018. In total, around 78 100 people will benefit.
Accordingly, 65,000 lei will be allocated which was provided in the 2018 State Budget Law.
The initiative was developed in the context of improving the level of protection of citizens and aims to increase the level of social inclusion of vulnerable categories.
