Marian Jean Marinescu: After the general elections, Moldova must be led by a pro-European Government
After the general elections, Moldova must by led by a pro-European Government, built even around Vlad Plahotniuc.
Was the declaration made by Romanian MEP Marian Jean Marinescu, in an innterview offed for Adevărul newspaper, from the neighbor country. Marinescu is part of the biggest political group of the European Parliament, EPP, where the Party of Action and Solidarity is an observer.
The elections from the autumn are very important, as they will set Republic of Moldova's track, the official believes.
"If the Government is led by a pro-Russian party, which will last for 4 years, other Balkans will go ahead, while Moldova will be left behind, it would be wasted years. All efforts must be made to gather all votes of pro-Europeans, including of unionists, to reach a pro-European majority. Otherwise, it will be very complicated" Marian Jean Marinescu said in an interview.
On another hand, the official believes that European Union must also support and show to all Moldovans the efforts it made to offer Moldova financial and political support.
Romania also has to set its priorities for the next period of time when it will have the presidency in the EU Council. While Republic of Moldova has to be one of those priorities, Marinescu belives.
"Starting January 1 we will have presidency in the EU Council. The country having the presidency comes with a few personal priorities, other that European ones, such as Brexit. Our priority has to be Republic of Moldova. As Bulgaria fought so that this year the European Commission will draw up a statement with European perspectives the Balkans have, for EU adherence, we must also try to do the same with Republic of Moldova" Romanian MEP Marian Jean Marinescu said.
