Plahotniuc announces law on punishment for aggression upon doctors will be urgently voted
After calling for a plan to protect doctors against aggression last week, PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc has announced the law on punishment for aggression upon doctors will be urgently voted.
"We requested the Health Ministry a plan to protect our doctors as well as to improve their attitudes towards the citizens.
"We want that there are punishments according to the law in situations our doctors are harassed unacceptably.
"I have urged our representatives in Parliament to urgently vote in the final reading of the law on tightening punishment for those who harass doctors.
"Additionally, in order for physicians to have more time to deal with patients, not to waste it by filling out unnecessary acts, I asked the Health Minister to come up with concrete actions for de-bureaucratization of doctors' work.
"Personally, I know excellent doctors who are totally dedicated to this noble profession and are appreciated by the citizens, being among those who maintain until now the good reputation of Moldovan medicine.
"But I have to admit that I also receive letters from citizens about their bad experience when they visit doctors, attitudes of the doctors or even the refusal to consult."We have therefore discussed in the weekly session also actions to train physicians to improve their attitude towards patients and we will evaluate the results of these changes on the opinion polls as well as calls made by citizens to special telephone line of the Ministry of Health, "the Democratic president said.
The PDM leader has asked the Ministry of Health, an action plan to improve the interaction of physicians with citizens, and concrete actions to de-bureaucratization the doctors' activity.
