Progress on the Moldova-EU cooperation dimension was analyzed yesterday evening at the meeting of the Governmental Commission for European Integration (CGIE), chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

Referring to the conclusions of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on the situation in Moldova, approved on February 26, 2018, the head of the Executive said that the document reflects both the results of the authorities and the areas in which efforts need to be intensified.

Thus, in the context of the priorities set by the Foreign Affairs Council, the importance of further promoting reforms in the field of justice, combating corruption, along with progress in other areas of dialogue with the EU, will be discussed at the Association Council meeting Moldova-EU to be held in May.

The members of the Commission also agreed on the timetable for implementing the recommendations of the European Commission's report on the application of the Visa Suspension Mechanism of 20 December 2017.

The timetable includes measures such as the implementation of the new Strategy on Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings 2018-2023, the March 21 meeting of the Executive, as well as organizing information campaigns to promote the rights and obligations of citizens benefiting from the visa liberalization regime.

The meeting also discussed developments in meeting conditionality for EU macro-financial assistance.
