Andrian Candu: The new Audiovisual Code was registered at the Parliament
The new Audiovisual Code was registered yesterday, March 22 2018, at the Parliament and was called the Audiovisual Services Code. The announcement was made by President of Moldovan Parliament, Andrian Candu, during a press conference. According to the official, the new law will improve the mass media situation from our country.
"As you all know, for half a year now the Parliament had many groups working to elaborate the audiovisual law and forward it to the Parliament. Many groups have worked with international experts. Those groups are well organized and are supported by the European Council, of the European Union and the Government of the United States.
Other suggestions will soon be forwarded, but at the moment, I wish to mention that one group, perhaps the most important one that worked on one of the most important document has finished the project. I wish to mention that the new Audiovisual Code was yesterday registered at the Parliament under the name of Audiovisual Services Code.
Audiovisual Services Code is actually a new guideline of the European Union, which regulated multiple aspects of the audiovisual market. Those are new notions, including all that local products mean, the audience rate, part-time regulation, advertisement, completely new notions that once implemented in Republic of Moldova will bring much benefit to the mass media" Andrian Candu declared.
The new Audiovisual Code was elaborated by local and foreign media experts. The document foresees new laws in this domain, clearly defines the notion of propaganda and misinformation, as well as determines the volume of local products in audiovisual sources.
