Six killers who planned to assassinate Vlad Plahotniuc received their sentences
The six killers who planned to assassinate PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc received their sentences. Valerian Zobolotnîi, who organized everything, will spend the next 20 years behind bars. The other five suspects received between 3 and 11 years.
Magistrates from Chisinau Court announced their decisions only on midnight, after six hours of debates.
Prosecutors are satisfied with the results.
"The collected evidence was enough to put those people behind bars, we will following decide regarding the appeal" PCCOCS prosecutor, Tatiana Vidraşco said.
Their lawyers though, claim that there are more than enough reasons to make an appeal.
"We believe there to be enough reasons to make an appeal. I believe the sentence to be exaggerated and that it ignored the law" the suspects' lawyer said.
Publika reminds that prosecutors demanded sentences between 11 and 24 years.
Another name in the case is of Iurie Parhomenco, who received five years and four months. He found out his punishment earlier, because he fully confessed.
A total of seven people were accused of planning to assassinate PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc at the end of last October.
Investigation established that the suspects acted on the orders of criminal Grigore Caramalac, known as Bulgaru, who is also accused in this case and has an international arrest warrant.
