Over 2 600 officers and 600 firefighters will be on duty this Easter Vigil
Over 2 600 police officers and 600 firefighters, as well as carabineers, will be on duty during the Easter Vigil. At the same time, over 2 400 officers will be trained for the Memorial Day. The announcement was made at a press conference held by Minister Alexandru Jizdan and chiefs of Ministry of Internal Affairs services.
Head of General Police Inspectorate, Alexandru Pânzari, announced that over 2 600 police officers will be dispatched to ensure order in churches from all over Moldova. While on Memorial Day over 2 400 officers will be on duty.
The number of patrol officers will double, as well as teams for tactical and operational response, so that citizens will be assisted as soon as possible after calling 112.
"According to the agenda, the Holy Fire will arrive in Chisinau at 19:00. From there, it will be escorted with 2 cars and 10 motorcycles of National Patrol Inspectorate. Around 100 officers and carabineers will ensure public safety at the cathedral. For the first time this year, bicycles will also be involved" Alexandru Pânzari explained.
The official also urged citizens to use public transport and not their own vehicles:
"If people decide to use their own cars, they should park them in proper places" Pânzari said.
In his turn, chief of General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Mihail Harabagiu, announced during the briefing that on the Easter Vigil 600 firefighters and 200 fire engines will be on duty, as well as multiple SMURD teams.
Mihail Harabagiu also recommended citizens:
- Be very careful with fire.
- Do not block access to churches.
- Burning tyres is strictly forbidden.
- Do not leave children without supervision.
Mihail Ciubaciuc, commander of the carabineers, urged citizens to maintain public order during the holidays. The official assured that along with police officers, carabineers will be on duty to ensure that citizens will fully enjoy the holidays.
While Fredolin Lecari, chief of Border Guard, announced that a decision was taken to ease the border controls, both to people who wish to enter and leave Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the official assured that border guards are fully prepared to ensure that citizens will not have to spend a long time in lines at the Customs.
"Those who arrive to Moldova must feel that the Customs have changed. Border Guard is the first person you get in contact with. We assure you that everyone received training" Fredolin Lecari declared.
Chief of Border Guard also came up with a few recommendations to those who wish to cross the border:
- Make sure that you have all the necessary documents before traveling.
- If you travel with children or people with certain needs, inform the officer straight away.
