President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, promulgated today the law on ratifying the Agreement on joint control of persons, transport means and goods at the state border, in the presence of Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

PM Pavel Filip expressed his gratitude for this important step, which grant Republic of Moldova full control over the Moldova - Ukraine border, including the part located in Transnistria.

Joint control at Customs begun from July 17 2017, at Cuciurgan-Pervomaisk crossing point, located on Ukrainian land.

In February 2018, Government of Ukraine approved an agreement on joint control of persons, transport means and goods at the Moldova - Ukraine borders. The decision was greeted by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who believe this will bring only benefits to both states.

The law to ratify the Agreement on joint control of persons, transport means and goods at Moldova- Ukraine borders was ratified by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on March 1 2018.

The Agreement of joint control was signed last October, during an official visit of Ukrainian Prime Minister, Volodimir Groisman to Republic of Moldova.

The joint control will be used in all crossing points from the Moldova - Ukraine borders, both in case of auto and rail transport.

According to authorities, it will make the interaction of border control institutions in the two states more efficient and will facilitate the traffic.

PUBLIKA.MD reminds that Prime Minister Pavel Filip is currently on an official visit to Ukraine, to attend the Security Forum held in Kiev, where Pavel Filip will give a speech.

The delegations from both countries will also hold a meeting, where bilateral documents to intensify collaboration on car and air transport will be signed. Ukraine will speak of regional security threats it is facing and the importance of a dialogue in solving current conflicts.

The Forum from Kiev reached its 11th edition and was launched at the initiative of former PM Arseni Iațeniuc. 

At the beginning of March, Chisinau hosted an inter-parliamentary summit on current security challenges. At the summit, legislative leaders from Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine signed a declaration on regional security and perspectives of European integration.

The event was attended by close to 150 high-ranking officials, including seven Presidents of Parliament and members of the United States Congress.
