Prime Minister Pavel Filip has met today with EU Ambassador to Republic of Moldova, Peter Michalko and director of Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Lawrence Meredith.
The parties exchanged opinions on the latest development in the implementation of the EU Association Agreement, in the context of the meeting of Association Council EU - Republic of Moldova, which will take place on May 3 at Brussels.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip mentioned that EU adherence remains the Government's priority, proven by the increase of EU citizens among the population.
"I wish for Republic of Moldova's European path to become irreversible by the end of my mandate" Pavel Filip said.
The official highlighted both the Government's and Parliament's will to complete all terms regardless of the elections from this autumn.
Prime Minister declared that the Government continues to implement reforms. Among which also counts the small justice reform that states certain aims of the state.
"It is important to feel the support of EU to implement the reforms. The macro-financial assistance and programs for budgetary support are very important for us" Pavel Filip declared.
EU officials appreciated the progresses of the authorities in implementing the Association Agreement and underlined the necessity of extra efforts being made to complete all terms. They declared that the Government will receive support in implementing reforms that increases the standard of living of the citizens. Peter Michalko and Lawrence Meredith also spoke of the launch of some projects in Ungheni and Cahul, with the support of EU.
The officials also expressed their interests and EU's will to support the multiplication of the Excellence Centers in the field of ICT, according to the Tekwill model, including in the country's regions. Prime Minister Pavel Filip greeted the idea, claiming that during his mandate as Minister of Information Technologies and Communication he supported the establishment of Tekwill Center, as well as the elaboration and promotion of law for IT parks. Prime Minister claimed that the ICT field is very important for Republic of Moldova's future, as it offers added value and increases investments in the country.
