Tudor Ulianovschi met with Amina Mohamed. UN will continue supporting Moldova in achieving sustainable development
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Moldova, Tudor Ulianovschi, who currently has the presidency of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), has met with Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program, Amina Mohamed. The two officials spoke of the interaction among UN socialized bodies, as well as the role of UNCTAD in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), as well as the cooperation between Republic of Moldova and UN in this field.
Within the meeting, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi, spoke of the crucial importance of finances for development for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals at the national and international level, here was accentuated UNCTAD's role in creating and maintaining various partnerships. Identification and capitalization of funds and mechanisms of financial assistance for the sustainable development in countries with emergent economies was named as a crucial tool for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Amina Mohamed mentioned that those goals, especially the facilitation of efforts for developing some countries such as Republic of Moldova, are taken into consideration and are the base of the reform process of the development system of the UN. Here, high-ranking officials from UN remarked the efforts made by Republic of Moldova's Government for achieving sustainable development and assured that the country will continue receiving support from UN.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi invited Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program, Amina Mohamed to visit Republic of Moldova.
