The Protocol decision on vehicles registration, signed today by Chisinau and Tiraspol, represents an important step forward and contributes to a positive dynamic in the Transnistria settlement process, wrote eeas.europa.eu.
According to Maja Kocijancic, Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, this agreement will allow vehicles from the Transnistria region to participate in international road traffic, in accordance with international rules, and in doing so will bring tangible benefits to the population, bringing both banks closer together. It is now key that swift and thorough implementation of this agreement, as well as of all the agreements achieved last year, is ensured by both Sides.
The European Union reiterates its continuous support for a peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict within the framework of the 5+2 Process. In line with the Vienna OSCE Ministerial Statement of December 2017, which underlines the output-based principle of the process, it is important to continue this level of engagement in the upcoming months and we support the efforts of the Italian OSCE Chairmanship in Office in this regard.
