Tudor Ulianovschi: ECOSOC consolidates its support for member states in sustainable development
In the context of efforts to implement Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development, consolidation of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is necessary to support UN member states, including the Republic of Moldova, in achieving the goals set out in the Agenda. The statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, during the meeting with Maria Chatardova, the president of ECOSOC.
During the meeting, Tudor Ulianovschi and Maria Chatardova had an exchange of views on ECOSOC's contribution to supporting UN member states in achieving sustainable development goals, noting that the achievement of the established goals requires the mobilization of all types of financial resources - internal and external, public and private to achieve sustainable development in all three dimensions.
The interlocutors found that the implementation of the Agenda 2030 implementation program is only possible with the active participation of all Member States, including by mobilizing the necessary resources to reach the sustainable development objectives.
In this context, Minister Ulianovschi mentioned that the Republic of Moldova has made substantial progress in creating a national environment conducive to sustainable development, including by improving the business climate, establishing free economic zones to attract foreign direct investment and expanding infrastructure to support the business environment.
Tudor Ulianovschi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, participates in New York on 23-27 April in the Economic and Social Council on Financing for Development as well as at the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Sustainable Peacebuilding .
