Good Roads for Moldova means an 1.6 billion lei investment to repair 1 200 km of local roads in over 1 200 settlements. The declaration was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in an interview for tribuna.md.

The official also declared that it was requested for all procedures to be urgently finished, for works to begin as soon as possible.

"I already requested for all procedures to be made urgently, for contracts to be soon signed and works to begin. Students need good roads to reach their schools, investors require a good infrastructure to open enterprises. Additionally, we foresaw nearly one billion lei for the rehabilitation of highways, another measure in improving the infrastructure of Republic of Moldova" Pavel Filip declared.

PUBLIKA.MD reminds that in the middle of April the first 4 auctions, form the planned 35, for road repair and construction works, within the Good Roads for Moldova program were opened. Under the supervision of State Road Administration, offers of economic agents, who showed interest in renovating roads from Briceni, Basarabeasca, Dondușeni and Drochia districts, were opened.

The program Good Roads for Moldova foresees organization of a single auction for each district, which will include all sectors and roads from said district. The contracts between selected operators and State Road Administration will be signed in May.

Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, urged all economic agents specialized in road repair and construction to participate in the auctions held in all districts from the country.

Chiril Gaburici also warned State Road Administration to respect all set deadlines, so that the road repair and construction works will be of good quality and without setbacks.

According to the information, for periodical road repair and maintenance works in Briceni districts were made 3 offers. Their price starts from 31.8 million lei to 34 million lei.

Another 3 economic agents made offers to repair roads from Basarabeasca district, beginning from 9.21 million lei to 9.79 million lei.

In Dondușeni district, also 3 economic operators wish to perform works, the offer starting from 46.24 million lei to 48.1 million lei. All economic agents who made the offers also establish a deadline of four months.

The Good Roads for Moldova program foresees rehabilitation of 120 km of roads from nearly 1200 settlements.

The total investments amount to around 1.6 billion lei. The money will be offered by Road Fund - 500 million lei and by the State Budget - 1100 million lei. The works will begin in the middle of May.

Publika reminds that the Good Roads for Moldova project was announced the leader of PDM, Vlad Plahotniuc. It is considered to be the most ambitious infrastructure project since the declaration of Independence, foreseeing the rehabilitation of roads leading to every village. Later the program will be extended to main roads from districts.
