Justice Minister, Victoria Iftodi met with Minister of Justice of Georgia, Tea Tsulukiani
Justice Minister Victoria Iftodi held a meeting with Minister of Justice of Georgia, Tea Tsulukiani. The two ministers have signed a justice cooperation agreement and spoke of the justice reforms from the two countries, as well as of other field of common interest.
"Signing the memorandum for multidimensional cooperation in the justice field will bring our countries closer, by creating a common platform where experience and good practices will be shared between the two institutions" Victoria Iftodi declared.
Minister of Justice of Georgia claimed that for both Moldova and Georgia justice reforms are crucial, while this agreement is meant to offer new bilateral cooperation opportunities that will allow faster advancement on the EU adherence agenda.
Based on the signed document, cooperation is foreseen in the justice reform and modernization, offering mutual legal assistance in civil, commercial and criminal matters. The institutions will also work together to perfect the legislation and harmonize its community acquis, as well as advance in the e-governance field, aiming to increase transparency in the ministries daily activity.
At the same time, the ministries wish to establish a cooperation in specific activities, such as: programs for the rehabilitation and reintegration into the society of former prisoners, executing court decisions on civil and administrative cases.
Justice Minister Victoria Iftodi is performing an official visit to Georgia between May 15-18, at the invitation of Georgia's Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Corrections and Constitutional Court.
