A member of the criminal group, led by Sergiu Ceban, known as Kitaeţ was arrested for influence peddling. According to law enforcement, the suspect, known among thieves as Nicuşor, attempted to set free an inmate from Cricova jail.

In 2017, the man told the inmate's relatives to have influence over the magistrates, as well as the jail's Administration.

In exchange for those services, the suspect extorted 6 600 Euro. 

After searches were performed at his house, money and illegal weapons were seized.

The man was previously tried for hooliganism. If found guilty, the suspect risks a 6 year sentence or a fine to 150 000 lei.
