In order to stop Gaudeamus cinema from being demolished, leader of Dignity and Truth Platform, along with supporters have trespassed on the site and injured a worker.

To calm the spirits police officers had to interfere. The scandal was over only after deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu, signed a document suspending the demolition works.

One of the worker claims that Andrei Năstase and his supporters have aggressively entered the site and injured his arm.

"He pushed me and I fell on the gate. I used to like him and even went to protest for Năstase, but now, I was just doing my job and they attacked me."

The company's representatives that were performing the works condemned Năstase's actions.

"He is a lawyer and knows what private property means. Yet they still trespassed and injured a worker, employee who was simply doing his job to earn money to feed his family" representative of the construction company, Vitalie Verejan said.

After exiting the site, the new Mayor of the Capital also begun fighting with a few socialist councilmen who also came to protest the demolition works.

"The presence of socialists at the moment is a provocation. All the socialists do is cause scenes and scandals, chaos and are helping the mafia" PPDA leader, Andrei Năstase said.

"If you truly wish for the works to stop you should have forwarded a request on Friday at the prosecutor's office, not cause a scene today. For 2-3 years we are going to courts regarding the demolition of this building. The moment you became Mayor, works begun."

Soon after, deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu, signed a document to suspend the demolition works. The lawyer representing the interests of the cinema's owner claims that the decision will be appealed.

The lawyer has also filed a complaint against Andrei Năstase for his abusive and illegal actions.

"We believe he abused and breached the law: he trespassed private property, illegally destroyed the fence. He also got in the way of a worker. Secondly, he did not abide the law enforcement. Last but not least, the accusation are not against Andrei Năstase, but the group of people who entered the site and harmed a worker" lawyer Vitalie Enachi said.
