Gazprom assured that Republic of Moldova will encounter no troubles with its supply of natural gas
Ensuring the domestic market with natural gas, its transit and the reorganization of Moldovagaz in accordance with European policies, as well as developing collaboration between the Republic of Moldova and the company Gazprom, were the main subjects discussed during today's meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Gazprom CEO, Valerii Golubev.
The officials established that at the moment Republic of Moldova is fully assured with natural gas and manages to pay in time all bills for the consumed natural gas. Therefore, for the gas delivered in 2016 was paid 200.6 million USD, while for 2017 was paid 167.5 million USD.
Due to favorable circumstances created in the domestic market, Republic of Moldova managed to also pay part of the historic debt.
The parties also spoke of the reorganization of Moldovagaz and its internal structures for the distribution and supply of natural gas, in the context of the institutional reform foreseen in the terms of the EU Association Agreement and 3rd Energy Package, as well as the national law in the field, which also includes division of transmission, distribution and supply of natural gas.
During the talks, Republic of Moldova received assurances that the domestic market will have the necessary amount of natural gas throughout 2019, while its transit will be performed in the same way.
Officials also mentioned perspectives to develop collaboration in the future, specifying that in 2019 Moldovagaz will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
