Remittances to Moldova rises over 8 percent y/y
Money transfers from abroad are increasing. In June, Moldovans abroad sent home nearly $ 118 million. More than nine million dollars compared with the same period last year.
Most money transfers, almost 40 percent, came from European Union countries. The share of CIS transfers is 30.5 percent. More than 34 million dollars have been transferred from Russia.
From Israel, money transferred to our country has reached almost $ 20 million, and from Italy over $ 14 million.
The share in the US is over eight percent or nearly ten million dollars. If we talk about the currency of the transfers, then the dollar covers nearly 46 percent of the total. Almost all transfers were made in euros. Those in rubles represent 8.5 percent.
Since the beginning of the year, total transfers to individuals have been over 640 million dollars.
