During 2019 parliamentary elections, information system of Central Electoral Commission (CEC) was targeted by several cyber attacks.
According to the Moldovan Intelligence and Security Service, most attacks were detected during closure of polling stations: attempts to block and shut down platforms to display preliminary results of parliamentary elections.
Cyber attacks on the information system were countered by the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service to ensure functioning of system and present results of elections transparently.
The Intelligence and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova in cooperation with the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service will conduct joint actions to investigate the source and type of recorded cyber attacks in accordance with the legislation in force.
