Chiril Gaburici attends Ministerial Meeting of the Eastern Partnership on Energy
The Moldovan Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici attends the Ministerial Meeting of the Eastern Partnership on Energy, which takes place in Bucharest, Romania.
In his speech, Minister Chiril Gaburici appreciated support of European Union (EU) for Moldovan authorities in promoting energy sector reform.
"We're making considerable efforts to accelerate the sustainable development of the country, as well as the implementation of Moldova's interconnection projects with the European natural gas and electricity networks. These initiatives are of particular importance to ensure the country's energy security, "said Chiril Gaburici.
Moreover, Minister Chiril Gaburici mentioned that security of gas supply is one of the biggest concerns of the Republic of Moldova, especially in the current geopolitical context.
"We are doing everything we can to speed up the construction of the Ungheni gas pipeline - Chisinau. The Romanian partners share our concerns and have taken a very ambitious schedule for the project, both on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, "said the minister.
Referring to electricity interconnection projects, Chiril Gaburici appreciated the EU support to integrate the Republic of Moldova into the EU electricity market, by promoting the asynchronous interconnection of electricity between Moldova and Romania.
"I want to believe that future challenges will make us more united, more consistent and stronger. I am convinced that only unity helps us achieve good results in improving energy policies related to sustainable development, including ensuring access to reliable and secured energy resources at competitive prices, all for the benefit of the consumer.
We all hope that strong ties and relations between the Romanian and Moldovan people, as well as between our Governments will facilitate the achievement of the committed objectives. "
