What did Minister Babuc disclose about former Education Minister Maia Sandu?
"The villages will be gone!" This was the response to school closure of PAS leader Maia Sandu when she was Education Minister. Monica Babuc, the current Education Minister has revealed this on a Facebook video in the background of a school in Fârlădeni village, Hânceşti district.
This institution has been opened recently following a decision of Filip government.
"When we reached one of the thorniest subject - the financing of education - one of our colleagues addressed a question: Ms Minister, if we implement the plans as you proposed, a large of Moldovan villages will be gone?
Do you know what Ms Sandu replied?
Ms Sandu answered: They will be gone because the world civilization was born in cities", said Minister Babuc.
When Maia Sandu was the Moldovan Education Minister, over hundred of schools were closed.
"I know that when you dared to say such words, you never loved our village. I don't want any villages in Moldova to be gone", said the Moldovan official.
Monica Babuc also spoke on measures taken by Filip government such as the opening of schools, the 49% increase in professor salary. The increase during Sandu's mandate was fewer than 25%.
"We increased the allowance for young specialist from 45,000 to 120,000 lei. We decreased the period of activity as young specialist from 18 to 14 hours per week. The pedagogical colleges during Mandu's mandate in 2015 ceased the admission. Today we face the lack of 2200 teachers. We just managed to open 250 admission places at five pedagogical colleges", said Monica Babuc.
The Filip government also carried out other measures to encourage the professors such as free continuous training course offered for 11500 teachers and fewer reports they are required to submit.
Maia Sandu declined to response to Publika queries.
This's not the first time that Maia Sandu's made controversial declarations. According to a document published on the press, during her minister mandate, she blocked a bill drawn up by Labor Ministry. The bill stipulated the increase in one-off allowance for children from 3100 lei till 5500 lei and the financial aid given for orphans as well as uninsured mothers.
According to former Labor Minister Ruxanda Glavan, Maia Sandu explained that not the state but parents must raise the children, and the mothers had to work hard for them.
