President Dodon asked US support for international recognition of Moldovan permanent neutrality
President Igor Dodon once again thanked the United States for its support to Moldova in resolving the recent political crisis and the peaceful transfer of power. During his meeting with US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale, Dodon also said that "now, thanks to foreign partners' support and national consensus, Moldova has every chance of relaunching the economy and promoting a balanced foreign policy based on its national interests. "
In a post on Facebook, after talks with Hale, Dodon also said he assured that the new government would respect all the international agreements it entered, including the Association Agreement with the European Union, as well as urged the United States to support Moldova's efforts to ensure that the status of "permanent" neutrality is "internationally recognized".
Moreover, he reaffirmed that Moldova "will promote a balanced foreign policy based on its national interests". Referring to the Transnistrian issue, the president reaffirmed his support for the continuation of the "5 + 2" negotiations, in which the United States has an observer role alongside the European Union.
