National Bank's report on remittances sent to Moldova in October 2019
In October 2019, the total amount of net money transfers from abroad made in favour of individuals via licensed banks of the Republic of Moldova amounted to US$ 110.44 million (down by 0.6% as against October 2018), writes the National Bank of Moldova.
According to geographical provenance, the transfers in favour of individual are coming from the following three areas: the EU (50.0 percent), CIS (21.2 percent) and the rest of the world (28.8 percent).
The distribution by countries of money transfers from abroad in favour of individuals are worth to mention the transfers from Russian Federation with a share of 20.2 percent (USD 22.26 million) of total transfers (decreasing by 4.4 percentage points as compared to October 2018). At the same time, it should be mentioned the money transfers from Israel - 17.0 percent (USD 18.82 million), from Italy - 12.1 percent (USD 13.32 million), Germany - 9.1 percent (USD 10.06 million), United Kingdom - 8.4 percent (USD 9.18 million), USA - 6.7 percent (USD 7.44 million), France - 6.1 percent (USD 6.78 million), Republic of Ireland - 1.8 percent (USD 2.03 million), Spain - 1.6 percent (USD 1.76 million), Czech Republic - 1.5 percent (USD 1.66 million), Romania - 1.4 percent (USD 1.58 million), Portugal - 1.2 percent (USD 1.36 million), Poland – 1.1 percent (USD 1.24 million), Turkey - 1.0 percent (USD 1.08 million), Other countries - 10.8 percent (USD 11.88 million).
In the currency structure of transfers in favour of individuals, transfers made in EUR - 56.1% (up by 7.2 p.p compared to October 2018), followed by transfers in USD dollars - 40.2% (down by 4.1 p.p) and those in RUB - 3.7% (down by 3.1 p.p).
During January – October 2019, the volume of total banking transfers from abroad in favour of individuals of the Republic of Moldova was USD 1013.39 million, by 5.0 percent less than the same period last year.
