Minister of Health requests establishment of state of public health emergency
The state of emergency in Moldova expires on Friday, however, the coronavirus still poses a threat to people's lives which can be demonstrated by the substantial increase in infection cases. Therefore, the health authorities asked the president of the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission, who is the prime minister Ion Chicu, to declare a state of public health emergency.
"Specialists in the field took the decision and recommended the establishment of the state of public health emergency. This state of emergency still conditions the COVID-19 prevention and control measures. We aren't talking about the relaxation but the adaptation of restrictive measures", said Minister of Health VIORICA DUMBRĂVEANU.
According to the Minister, some of the citizens do not respect the individual protection measures, including the social distance. After May 15, the restrictive measures will be adapted according to the number of diseases. Periodically, they will be relaxed or they will return to their obligatory character. The Parliament established the nationwide state of emergency on March 17 for a period of 60 days.
