Cahul District hospital on the brink of bed shortage
Cahul District Hospital could run out of beds for coronavirus-infected patients in one or two days, the institution's director Oleg Creciun annonuced in the talk-show Tema Zilei on Canal 2.
In these conditions, the local health authorities do not rule out that they could install military tents and give assurances that absolutely all patients will benefit from the necessary medical assistance.
According to Oleg Creciun, 100 out of 300 beds within the hospital are for coronavirus-infected patients. Around 15-18 patients are hospitalized here daily.
"We also examined the possibility of installing military tents. Nobody will will be left without medical treatment or in the hallways, or in tents. I do not want us to reach field medicine, but we are on the threshold".
According to statistics presented by the Ministry of Health, so far, 496 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Cahul, making it become the locality with third-highest number of Covid-19 cases in Moldova.
Balti with 553 cases is ranked second and the highest case number(over three thousand) are recorded in Chisinau.
