After the two-hour debate, Parliament voted on the draft law on NGO activity, one of the conditions for obtaining a second tranche of EU macro-financial assistance.

Some opposition MPs stated that the synthesis of the amendments had been falsified by the chairman of the Legal Commission, Vasile Bolea, a fact he denied. Bolea also withdrew several amendments, which had previously sparked a wave of criticism from the opposition.

The draft law on non-profit organizations was voted in the first reading by the Parliament in May 2018.

The document sets out the uniform principles for the establishment and operation of NGOs. It does not contain any limitations on the external financing of non-profit organizations nor does it require their re-registration.

This document also provides flexibility and discretion to members of non-profit organizations on how to organize internally.

At the same time, it does not allow NGOs to support any electoral candidate in elections.
