6.3 billion lei, almost half of the loss as a result of the banking fraud, has been recovered. According to President Igor Dodon, money transfered abroad will be collected soon.
"We know that most of the money has been transferred abroad, which means that in the near future we will start acquiring assets abroad. We already know where they are active, hundreds of millions of dollars in cash, "the head of state said.
According to Igor Dodon, out of the 6.3 billion lei, 2.5 billion lei was recovered in cash and transferred to the State Budget, and the rest - 3.8 billion was obtained after the seizure of various goods. Bank fraud occurred through Unibank, Banca de Economii and Banca Sociala, which gave non-performing loans and went bankrupt. At that time, the National Bank covered the financial gaps, but the institutions were eventually liquidated.
