Moldovan President Igor Dodon is ready to be the first Moldovan to test Russian COVID-19 vaccine, the head of state announced on his Facebook column "Preşedintele răspunde".

"I see that many Moldovan people including officials have remained skeptical of the Russian vaccine. Now the vaccine is administered only inside Russia. I'm ready to be the first Moldovan to test the vaccine when they agree to be administered outside their country. I hope this will happen in the coming weeks. I am ready to risk my health if it is necessary for this vaccine to reach the Republic of Moldova faster," said Igor Dodon.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced last week that his country registered the world's first vaccine for the coronavirus, after less than two months of human testing on fewer than 100 people. 

The international community reacted with skepticism, as clinical trials in humans have only just begun and the WHO has stated that the preparation must meet international standards in order to be used. China has also recently approved the registration of a COVID-19 vaccine that is in the testing phase and does not have the approval of the WHO.
