The new agreement between the International Monetary Fund and the Republic of Moldova, which provides $ 558 million in financing, seems to have stalled. The IMF did not include the examination of the program with Moldova on the agenda of the September 30 meeting, as Prime Minister Ion Chicu had previously announced.

The information was confirmed for Publika by the Minister of Finance, Serghei Puşcuţa.

The finance minister said he did not know why the issue of examining the new financial assistance program was not on the IMF's agenda.

At the same time, Serghei Puşcuţa acknowledged that Moldova has not yet met the six preconditions of the IMF for the approval of the new financing agreement. However, the official mentioned that it is not an exact deadline for their implementation.

The subject was also addressed by the Vice President of the Parliament, Alexandru Slusari, on his Facebook page. Slusari added that the Executive should come up with explanations.

In July, the prime minister announced negotiations for a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund, based on actions to support the economy, promote good fiscal and financial governance, strengthen the rule of law and anti-corruption measures.

The $ 558 million financial support was to be provided for three years. Most of the amount was to be used as budget support and a small part to replenish foreign exchange reserves.
