IBRD to provide €92M to improve Chisinau heat supply system
The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide a loan of 92 million euros to increase the efficiency of the central heating system. Parliament ratified a loan agreement to this effect, signed on 30 September 2020.
The investments offered by the development partners will be directed to develop the thermal and electric energy production infrastructure in Chisinau municipality, as well as to improve the quality and efficiency of district heating services.
"The realization of this project will contribute to the reliable supply of electricity and heat, especially to final consumers in Chisinau. Also, pilot investments of energy efficiency will be made, which will contribute to the improvement of the quality of district heating services and to the reduction of energy consumption in the respective buildings, which will have a positive social impact ”, according to the project information note.
The actions provided in the project are to be implemented by the end of 2025.
