A group of young people collected donations for vagrants
Vagrant from Chisinau are seeking cover from the cold weather at the Homeless Shelter from the Capital. Today, they were visited by a group of young people from the Moldova Youth League Organization, who brought them clothes, shoes and hygiene products.
One of the beneficiaries is Sergiu Sultu. The man recalled how he lost his apartment 14 years ago and bit by bit, contact with relatives, ending up on the streets.
"We are fed here and the staff treats us well. When our socks rip they offer us new ones. We are also given toilet paper and toothpaste" Sergiu Sultu said.
Each day, dozens of homeless people go there for a warm meal and a bed to sleep in.
"It is warm here, the beds are soft, we are fed and clothed. What else could we wish for?"
"Everything is clean. The bed sheets are often changed."
To help the homeless people, the Moldova Youth League Organization gifted them with necessity goods.
The products were collected for two weeks, within a campaign "O haină pentru un om al străzii" ("A helping hand for vagrants").
"We did not approach them only to offer the items, but to also speak with them and get to know their stories, as it is a precious life lesson for us" volunteer Ana-Maria Neagu said.
The campaign "A helping hand for vagrants" reached its 6th edition.
