Mihai Lari, the mayor who was found shot in the courtyard of his house gathered a large funeral procession. Relatives, friends and colleagues gathered to bid him farewell. Mihai Lari was buried according to Christian rite, even if the police's preliminary ruling is suicide.
Before the funeral ceremony, the coffin with Mihai Lari's corpse was taken to the City Hall. One of those who came to bid farewell to the mayor was the leader of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu. He said that, throughout his life, Mihai Lari was hated by some of his fellow villagers and political opponents.
"We have some questions, but I look forward to finding out why nobody heard the shot, why the bullets were not found, why the shot is at a different angle at its entrance when compared to the exit and many more such inconsistences", the leader of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu said.
The bells of the town church rang loudly. Young and old people went to the church where they prayed for Mihai Lari to find rest. Most of them say do not believe the mayor has ended his days, as he would not have been able to resort to such act.
"I think he did not commit suicide, because he was a very strong, wise and calculated man."
"He was a kindhearted man. He did no harm to others and had no enemies."
"He was a good man and helped everyone. He did everything, new roads, and sewer systems."
Mihai Lari was found dead on Sunday morning. He has presumably shot himself for unknown reasons with the weapon in his possession. Meanwhile, the authorities are investigating all the circumstances and opened a criminal case for suicidal incitement. Mihai Lari was the mayor of Sângera for the past two years.
