Additional allowances on International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Approximately 40,000 people with special needs will receive additional allowances on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, marked worldwide today, December 3rd.
The state has a budget of 15 million lei. With assistance, totaling a half million lei, came and City Hall.
The National Bureau of Statistics data shows over 184,000 people with disabilities in Moldova, representing more than 5-per-cent of the population. Approximately 13,000 children who are up to 17 year-old.
Over 60-per-cent of these people live in villages. According to statistics, 40-percent of people with disabilities are between 30 and 54 years old and just as many are aged between 55 and 64 years.
Currently, every tenth person with special needs is drawing severe disability.
Earlier this year, the average monthly assistance for people who have a degree of disability was of 933 lei. Compared with 2011, the number of people with special needs increased by 3.5-per-cent.
