Romania will continue to support Moldova only when the support will be directed strictly to the needs of the local communities. The statement was made by the Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ioniță in a Publika TV talk show. 

"Romania will constantly support the Moldovan European path and its support will be directed to complete strategic projects and especially to local authorities. That's why we have done so far because the citizens are essentially the projects' beneficiaries", said Daniel Ioniţă, Romania's ambassador to Moldova.

According to the diplomat, the current government mechanisms cannot be reset immediately, but the Bucharest authorities are considering setting up a fund that will act directly with the local administrations in Moldova.

"Until they are sure that the Chisinau authorities are irreversibly concerned about the full compliance of the commitments have been made in the EU relationship. Until then, it's likely that certain government-level projects are in waiting period", the Ambassador said. 

The diplomat also said that Romania, like other development partners, still waits for the outcome of the reforms committed by Chisinau authorities to benefit the citizens. It does not mean that Bucharest takes a break in relations with Moldova, he added. 

"We are still present here with projects to benefit the citizens. The Romanians have been and will always be with the citizens of the Republic of Moldova," said Daniel Ionita, Romania's ambassador to the Republic of Moldova.

So far, Romania has offered 26 million euros for the repair of 945 kindergartens. Another 246 pre-school institutions are ready for rehabilitation work. At the same time, the Government of Bucharest provided 200 minibuses for the transport of students and funded several projects for restoration and construction of cultural objectives.
