The aggregate volume of Moldova's railway, road, river and air freight traffic grew by 23% year-on-year, reaching some 5.23 million tonnes in the first five months of 2017, the country's statistical office BNS said on Tuesday.
Calculated in freight tonne-kilometres (FTK), traffic rose 17% on the year to some 1.64 million FTK during January-May, the National Bureau of Statistics (BNS) said in a monthly report.
In May alone, the volume of Moldova's freight traffic rose 22% on the month and by 43% on the year, to 1.4 million tonnes.
