Andrian Candu continues to implement actions that will provide road safety
Andrian Candu, the President of the Parliament had a meeting with the World Bank's director to Moldova, Anna Akhalkatsi, EBRD representatives and Economy and Infrastructure Ministry. The officials discussed to reduce the number of the road accident's victims and a management of the traffic safety that will include the best international practices.
The President of the Parliament who is also the ambassador of the traffic safety talked about the necessity of a visit that would include the institutional coordination, good international practices and reforms that would reduce the number of road accidents. According to him, those reforms are very important, because the following months there will be repaired many national roads.
The President of Parliament announced that several actions will be organized this year, including the parliamentary platform and the parliamentary control mechanisms for the establishment of a road safety area in the country. Also, Andrian Candu appreciated the World Bank study on strengthening road safety management in the Republic of Moldova, which also presents the increased risk areas of the existing road infrastructure.
Last year Andrian Candu, as a road safety ambassador, promoted an information and awareness campaign with the civil society partners. During this campaign, there were organized exhibitions, there were broadcast materials that showed the risks of the high speed and there were made damarches near the cross-walks and schools.
Andrian Candu was called in function of road safety ambassador in 2017, by the astern Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Transport. Republic of Moldova signed a resolution with ONU about the road safety for the 2011-2020 years. The parts assumed the responsibility of the road safety. The resolution targets to reduce the number of road accidents with 50% till 2020.
