Andrian Candu: It should be battle of visions, policies not harassment or intimidation
Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu urges all electoral contestants to respect ethical norms in the February elections. The official also requested them to come and sign the code of ethics.
"The coming period will be surely full of emotions, but the most important thing is all electoral competitors adhere to some norms of ethics and conduct, of course we respect the law, the legislation.
Moreover, we try not to break the boundaries of ethical norms, so that the voters will have the ground to choose in terms of the vision, the proposed policies and the less excess zeal.
On this occasion, I would like to make an appeal to all electoral contestants: come to sign this Code of Ethics for Electoral Conduct and try to control emotions, aggressive expressions, disgusting speech.Until now, the parliamentary elections are nothing extraordinary but a normal democratic exercise, not a battle for life and death.
Everyone has to learn how to behave since the age of 7 at home and now we have the best European and international standards in field of elections.
I would like to appeal for authorities, firstly those who will organize and carry out elections to respect and enforce legal obligations. We appeal to all electoral contestants to have decent behaviors. It should be battle of visions, opinions and not harassment or intimidation.
This message is also addressed to my colleagues in the PDM. We will be very careful and we will draw attention to the slippages that exist between the electoral competitors and in themselves. We will come up with the investigations and the reflection of those facts, and if necessary with sanctions, "said Andrian Candu, Parliament Speaker.
