Andrian Candu: Moldova strengthens its "gray area" position and expansion of Russian influence
Moldova strengthens its "gray area" position in which the country is away from development and evolution, said Democrat Andrian Candu following the British-born billionaire Nathaniel Rothschild announced to give up the Chisinau International Airport.
"There was a opportunity for Moldova to receive investment from a world-renowned financier. The Chisinau International Airport could have become a regional or even international hub. But our country lost this opportunity because of the harassment, the instability and the inability of the state to secure investments. With the naivety or with the good knowledge of the pro-Europeans who took over the government in June and other objectives related to state security, the airport came under the influence of Russia ", said Andrian Candu.
PUBLIKA.MD recalls that the Guernsey-based company NR Investments Ltd gave up on the 95 percent of Avia Invest, the Moldovan company that currently manages the Chișinău International Airport. Avia Invest and NR Investments Ltd ratified the purchasing agreement in August 2019.
President Igor Dodon restated his strong reservations about the handling of the airport. He stated that Russian investors remained interested in Moldova, mentioning Chisinau airport and the port of Giurgiulesti in this context.
