AVIA INVEST's major shareholder to seek compensation up to €885M from Moldova's Government
Komaksavia Airport Invest Ltd, which owns 95 percent of the shares of AVIA INVEST, will sue the Government of the Republic of Moldova at the International Court of Arbitration in Stockholm, where it will seek compensation amounting to 885 million euros. The statement was made on Monday by the director of Komaksavia Airport Invest Ltd., Andreas Menelaou.
"We had to do this, we can't work under pressure, politics gets involved. The state used the pandemic crisis to exert pressure, and the government violated an important point in the contract. This is a reason to go to the court, "said Menelaou.
Menelaou also said that the authorities present wrong data on the company's financial situation.
"We did not want to go to the international court and get involved in an open conflict. We proposed dialogues but nobody accepted. It is unacceptable to talk to an investor in a position of power. We have to defend our huge investments".
