At least four patients of the hospital from the northern town of Bălţi have been burnt by a device using Roentgen rays in radiotherapy sessions.

The device did not have the due safety accreditations and is as old as 30 years. 

Although the hospital management was aware of the deviation, it allowed the device to be used. Moreover, its operation was authorized by the Public Health Center from Bălţi.

Prosecutors opened a criminal case on the therapist.

Investigators will find whether the hospital managers have any involvement.

The guilty face sentences of up to ten years of imprisonment.

Over 60 people were subjected to therapies at the broken radio equipment from July 2016 through March 2017.
