Balti town teacher DETAINED for extortion of money from students
A professor at the College of Dental Medicine Department of Balti town was arrested by National Anti-corruption Center officers and anticorruption prosecutors.
The man is suspected of passive corruption.
The case came in sight NACC after a video of him extorting money from his students was posted on the internet.
Thus, he is documented for extortion and receipt of funds not entitled to him.
Systematically, the teacher would have demanded and received 100 lei from each student for a higher grade.
From making special investigative measures authorized by the judge and accumulation of evidence or in cooperation with prosecutors, the teacher was recognized as a suspect and detained for a period of 72 hours.
A criminal case was initiated.
If found guilty, the teacher risks imprisonment from 3 to 7 years and a fine of 4,000 to 6,000 conventional units with the deprivation of the right to occupy certain public functions or exercise certain activities for a term from 5 to 10 years.
