BRIBE of thousands of euros. Moldovan policeman gets caught red-handed
A police investigator from Chişinău has been detained by the Internal Affairs Unit and Anticorruption prosecutors, being suspected of passive corruption (bribe soliciting).
He asked and received 2,000 euros from a rescuer employed by the Emergency Service of the Interior Ministry. The policeman promised the victim to get him rid of an investigation into an alleged case of hooliganism.
The investigator was caught red-handed on Sunday, as he was receiving the money.
A penal investigation has been started, as the policeman may be sentenced to 10 years of jail. Now he is detained for 72 hours.
