The justice Ministry has presented a legal project to offer freedom for businessmen and limit abuses in this area.

The new bill will prohibit seizing the of documents and assets required for business. It is also proposed to reform the The Anti-Money Laundering Service.

"The Anti-Money Laundering Service is turning into a financial information, demilitarized agency. It will no longer be subordinated to the National Anticorruption Center," said Justice Minister Vladimir Cebotari.

At the same time, the minister specified that the Agency for the Recovery of Criminal Goods will remain subordinated to the National Anticorruption Center.

Another change is that in the case of economic crimes, arrest will only be applied when the prescribed sentence is more than five years in jail.

The document also includes reviewing the role of Security and Intelligence Service (SIS). The institution will focus on threats to Moldova's independence and sovereignty.

According to the Justice Minister, the document was drawn up after consultations with businessmen and is supported by external partners.

Earlier, PDM chairman Vlad Plahotniuc called for measures to improve the situation in this area.
