Cases of unauthorized construction sites inspected by NAC. Main decisions taken by courts

More than half of the cases, that decide the fate of illegal construction sites, were stopped by judges, due to various reasons. National Anticorruption Center has analyzed the decisions taken between 2015-2017 and decided that the main cause are loopholes and corruption.
Within the study were examined 250 cases from Chisinau, Balti and Cahul Courts.
The data shows that in 61 cases, the court decided to order for unauthorized sites to be demolished. After appealing the decision, only 28 sentences remained unchanged.
In another over 60 cases, the economic agents responsible for the constructions were fined. While in over 130 cases, more than half of the total, the construction was stopped from various reasons.
Therefore, in 72 cases the argument became the intervention of the prescription term, while in another 25 cases - violation of the procedure. In 19 cases agents failed to appear in court, while the rest of the cases due to lack of evidence.
