CEC announced how many Moldovans living abroad registered for presidential elections
The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that 3,570 Moldovans voting abroad were registered online to participate in elections for the president of Moldova on October 30.
According to the CEC, citizens abroad who have registered in advance will be automatically removed from the electoral roll based on residence in Moldova. This delisting will be of temporary nature and will be valid only for the presidential election year.
Pre-registration of Moldovans abroad will identify major concentrations of voters to form additional polling stations.
After completion of the registration period, information regarding the number of citizens who were registered abroad will be transmitted by CEC to Government for deciding on the need of additional polling stations outside diplomatic missions and consular offices.
Data from the pre-registration will be processed only for the organization of elections. They will be protected in accordance with the Law on protection of personal data and will not be disclosed to any state institution in the country or abroad, except as expressly provided by law.
