Chicu Government asks for US and EU support in justice reform
A group of experts of the European Council came to assist the Moldovan justice reform. In this context, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said the Government would appreciate the participation in this process of all the development partners, especially the representatives of the European Union and the United States of America.
"Justice reform is an absolute necessity for our country as well as the biggest challenge facing the current government. Personally I don't see any chance to make things better in Moldova without ending the judicial debauchery. I discussed yesterday with a group of experts who examined the draft Justice Reform Strategy and Action Plan which I submitted to the European Council on January 3", said PM Chicu.
Meanwhile, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said the justice reform project should be subject to extensive consultation with civil society, system professionals, as well as all political forces in Molva.
"The most perfect legal documents for justice reform will be unlikely successful unless the reform process is supported by the responsible political forces and civil society. We will also greatly appreciate the participation in this process of all our development partners, especially the representatives of the European Union and the United States of America, "said Ion Chicu.
According to the prime minister, the Ministry of Justice will organize consultations on the draft strategy starting this week.
