Children-related abuses growing. 600 child victims recorded.
More and more children become victims of crime.
625 child victims were recorded in 579 criminal cases, compared to 511 minor victims in 497 criminal cases initiated in the first half of 2016, according to a study conducted by the General Prosecutor's Office.
According to the report, violent crimes committed against children include: sexual abuse, hooliganism, violence in educational institutions.
In 111 cases which children are victims of sexual offenses (in 2016 - 102 criminal cases), there were 24 family-related cases (by the biological father - 3, by mother’s concubine - 4, other relatives - 2 cases).
There were 157 violent offense in educational institutions, compared to 138 cases in 2016.
At the same time, there was a slight decrease in patrimonial crimes and domestic violence. Thus, in the first semester of 2017, there were registered 133 criminal cases related to patrimonial crimes where children were victims (2016- 152 cases).
In the first six months of this year, 9 cases of suicide and 71 cases of suicide attempt were recorded. The main factors that prompted children to suicide are the difficulties to adapt, school or sentimental failure, emotional imbalance, lack of effective communication with parents and / or relatives, family conflicts, the internet, and virtual life.
