Chiril Gaburici: Moldova has a bright future in the IT field
Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, spoke today with representatives from the IT field about developing the ICT industry in Republic of Moldova, the encountered difficulties, as well as opportunities to attract foreign IT companies.
”We have close to 100 companies registered in the first IT park from Moldova. Numbers shows that there is a big interest in the It field and that is because we have good conditions, such as a single 7% tax, simplified report procedure - companies present only one report, which makes it more efficient than in traditional companies. We take necessary actions to simplify the procedure for gaining residence and work permits" Chiril Gaburici said.
The main concerns reported from the IT sector was the insufficient workforce, the necessity to prepare IT specialists, to review the school curriculum etc. At the same time, was discussed the strategy to increase IT competitiveness, which will be finalized by Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, which will contribute to develop a favorable environment for Start Ups, as well as extend the IT parks, attract foreign companies. The possibility of extending the scope of legislation on IT parks to the whole ICT-based innovation sector were also discussed.
”Today, not even agriculture can develop and truly become competitive without implementing technologies. I believe that our country has potential in this sector - IT has a bright future. I am sure that Republic of Moldova is more efficient than other states" Minister of Economy and Infrastructure announced.
Among suggestions presented by IT representatives counts the creation of an investment fund for StartUps, promote IT services, the liberalization of the university market in our country, to attract international universities into student training, the promotion of successful stories - inviting citizens of Moldova who are currently working for Google, Facebook or other international companies, to set an example etc.
At the end, Chiril Gaburici has thanked those who activate in the IT field for their work and mentioned that Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure is always open for discussions, while such a platform will become a tradition.
