Christians from Chisinau celebrate most important orthodox holiday
The Old Church celebrates today the Mother of God, considered the most important Christian celebration of autumn. Its history dates back to the year 910.
According to Christian tradition, the faithful Andrew, abbot of the "Mother of God" Monastery in Constantinople, and disciple of Epiphany had a vision. Before the Blesses Virgin Mary came,who was praying for Christians. She was surrounded by angels and saints, including St. John the Baptist and St. John the Apostle Evangelist. Subsequently, the Virgin took off the veil off his head and handed it over people.
On this day, the faithful are requesting protection and help from the Virgin Mary.
